4th of July in Newport Beach

Lots of activities are happening on the Fourth of July!

Just up PCH from the Newport Channel Inn, the 108th annual Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade will have over 35,000 people lining the Main Street parade route from 10 a.m. to noon.  Grand Marshal of the parade is Patrick Warburton from the CBS TV series “Rules of Engagement”.   The Pier Plaza Festival will continue from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. when the grand finale “Fireworks over the Ocean” will light up the sky at the pier.

American Legion’s patriotically decorated “Old Glory Boat Parade” will cruise Newport Harbor at 1 p.m.

An event for families, the West Newport “Bike & Dog Parade” begins at 9 a.m. at the 38th Street Park on the Newport Peninsula and ends at the 44th Street Channel Place Park, with a festival to follow until 11:30 a.m.  There will be arts and crafts, carnival games, giant slides, and bouncers for the kids.

The Newport Beach “Independence Day on the Bay” celebration at the Newport Dunes Park, with the “The Bangles” as the headliner band, will begin with the park gates opening at 7 a.m.  The Beer Gardens open at 11 a.m. and the bands start playing at 11:15 and continue all day with The Bangles on stage at 7:15 p.m.  Admission to the concert area is $20 per person for walk-ins.  Parking is $60 per car and includes free admission for all occupants to the concert area.  If you plan to park, get there early to snag a parking place!  The Dunes Park celebration continues on July 5th when the Beer Gardens open at 3 p.m. with tribute bands performing at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., and a food truck competition throughout the afternoon.

A squadron of United States Marine helicopters is scheduled to perform a flyover along the coast.  Keep an eye to the sky around 7 p.m.!

The Newport Beach Star-Spangled “Fireworks over the Bay” at the Newport Dunes Park begins at 9:00 p.m.  Walk-in admission to the Dunes Park to enjoy the fireworks is free.
