Surf City Marathon 2014
The annual Surf
City Marathon takes place Sunday, February 2, 2014, just down the street from
the Newport Channel Inn.The course is
spectacular, running along the oceanfront past surfers and pounding waves.Start and finish line are on PCH near the
Huntington Beach Pier.Start time is , and the race is an
official Boston Marathon qualifier.There is also a half-marathon and a 1-mile charity run.

of Surfing begins Saturday, July 20, 2013 and qualifying rounds continue all
week, with the semi-finals and finals of the Pro Men’s event and Pro Women’s
event taking place on Sunday, July 28.The world’s best surfers are expected to compete, and include big name
surfing legend Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, and defending 2012 champion Julian
Wilson in the Men’s event, and current ASP Women’s World #1 Tyler Wright, local
favorite Courtney Conlogue, and defending 2012 champion Lakey Peterson in the
Women’s event.The Pro Junior semi-finals
and finals take place a day earlier on Saturday, July 27.The event is sponsored by Vans, and the
Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), and includes weeklong skateboarding
and BMX championships in the nearby skate bowl and a huge festival on the beach.All events are free and open to the public.

celebration with another concert from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 hosted
by DJ Richard Blade with several bands including the all-girls “Cougrzz Rock”
and the ultimate “JOURNEY” tribute band “Don’t Stop Believin”. The Laguna Beach Art Festival, Pageant of the
Masters and Sawdust Festival are ongoing throughout July.

film at the Newport Beach Film Festival is “Broadway Idiot” which premieres on
the festival’s opening night, April 25, 2013 at 7:30.The band “Green Day” is the subject of this
