Come join us for this traditional annual parade – now in its 103nd year. It gets bigger every year with nearly a million viewers and is a delight to visitors of all ages. The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade offers a dazzling array of holiday lights, on both the massive line of brightly decorated boats and yachts wending their way through the harbor and on the countless elaborately adorned houses along on the shoreline.
In 2011, the parade will take place on five consecutive nights, from Wednesday, December 14 through Sunday, December 18, starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at approximately 9:00 p.m. nightly. On the final night, there will be a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.
To view the parade, you can reserve a table at one of many bayside restaurants (reserve way ahead!), or board one of the many charter cruise boats to see it up close (also reserve ahead), or simply stake out a comfy spot (with lots of blankets and hot chocolate) somewhere along the parade route. One of our favorite places is along the sidewalk around Balboa Island, where you can see the parade coming and going multiple times and you can stroll along and view the decorated homes and listen to the carolers and performers along the way. Be sure to arrive very early to secure parking and a prime vantage point!

Besides over 200 boats featured at the 33rd annual Lido Yacht Expo, this year the JetLev personal jet pack will fly over the harbor, and the 113-foot tall Brigantine Irving Johnson will be docked at the show.
The boat show runs Wednesday, September 22 through Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Lido Marina Village just down the street from the Newport Channel Inn.

The 23rd annual Taste of Newport festival is September 16 – 18, 2011! Over 30 restaurants and 15 wineries are offering gourmet selections and premium wines. Headlining the entertainment Friday is Multi-Platinum rock legend Joan Jett, Saturday is the Grammy nominated Barenaked Ladies, and Sunday is both ABBA: The Concert with members of the original ABBA band, and pop/dance star Taylor Dayne.
Besides lots of great food, wine and music, the 3-day festival is also a fundraiser for local charities. The live entertainment is included in the admission price with food and beverage pay-per-taste. Besides the headliners, several other bands play each day. The OC Marathon is Sunday, May 1, 2011. The start line is here in Newport Beach at the Fashion Island shopping mall. Start time is 6 a.m. for both the Full Marathon and the Half Marathon.
The 5K walk/run start line is at the OC Fairgrounds, which is the finish line for the Full Marathon and the Half Marathon. The 5K start time is 7:30 a.m.
The Marathon course begins with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and wends its way through the seaside village of Corona del Mar, and includes cliff side views of Big Corona del Mar State Beach. It continues past the Newport Harbor Yacht Clubs and multi-million dollar bayside homes and yachts. Newport Beach’s Back Bay comes next, with exceptional water and wildlife views of the Upper Newport Bay Estuary Reserve. The course leaves Newport Beach for Costa Mesa, passing by the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, South Coast Plaza, and onto the Santa Ana River Trail before the home stretch towards the OC Fairgrounds.
