Newport Beach Film Festival 2013
This year’s featured
film at the Newport Beach Film Festival is “Broadway Idiot” which premieres on
the festival’s opening night, April 25, 2013 at 7:30. The band “Green Day” is the subject of this
documentary and fans of Green Day will be lining up to see the film and get a
glimpse of the band members who are scheduled to attend. The Newport Beach Film Festival continues daily
through May 2. Several hundred new films
from filmmakers in over 50 countries are being shown at multiple theaters
throughout Newport Beach. Lots of movie
stars and celebrities will be in town to promote their latest work!

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade 2012, December 19 - 23
Nothing says
Christmas in Newport Beach quite like the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat
Parade. This year's theme is "Surf, Sand, and Santa". Come join us for this
traditional annual parade – now in its 104nd year.
The Newport
Beach Christmas Boat Parade offers a dazzling array of holiday lights, on both the
massive line of brightly decorated boats and yachts wending their way through
the harbor and on the countless elaborately adorned houses along on the
shoreline. The parade runs nightly from
Wednesday December 19 through Sunday December 23, starting at 6:30 and ending
about 9:00 each evening. On the final
night, there will be a finale of fireworks at the end of the parade.
To view the
parade, you can simply stake out a comfy spot (with lots of blankets and hot
chocolate) somewhere along the parade route, or board one of the many charter
cruise boats to see it up close (reserve ahead), or reserve a table at one of
many bayside restaurants (reserve way ahead!).
One of our favorite places is along the sidewalk around Balboa Island,
where you can see the parade coming and going multiple times and you can stroll
along and view the decorated homes and listen to the carolers and performers
along the way. Be sure to arrive very
early to secure parking and a prime vantage point!

NSSA Newport Beach Surf Event November 3 – 4
The National
Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA), a youth organization that promotes
excellence in competitive surfing and high academic achievement among its
members, will hold their annual surf competition in Newport Beach at 54th
street just across from the Newport Channel Inn on November 3 and 4, 2012.

highest rated outstanding water quality beaches for Cleanest Beach in

annual Taste of Newport festival is September 14 – 16, 2012! Headlining the entertainment Friday is Andy
Grammer (Keep Your Head Up; Fine By Me), Saturday headlines both BLONDIE (Call
Me; One Way or Another) and DEVO (Whip It; Freedom of Choice), and Sunday headlines
Roger Hodgson the legendary voice of SUPERTRAMP (Take the Long Way Home; Logical;
Give a Little Bit).
Over 30
restaurants and 15 wineries are offering gourmet selections and premium
wines. Besides lots of great food, wine
and music, the 3-day festival is also a fundraiser for local charities. The live entertainment is included in the $25
admission price with food and beverage pay-per-taste. Besides the headliners, several other bands
play each day, including BOSTYX, DSB, The MVP’s, and Cody Longo. Get there early to claim a spot near the
